Microsoft Announces Four Versions of Windows 8 for Tablets/Smartphones

Microsoft has announced its plans for releasing four different versions of Windows that are compatible with ARM processors, which are the processors in many tablets and smartphones. They have also issued a warning that these versions are only meant for the tablet platform and will not be able to support applications that were developed for previous versions of Windows.

New Intel Tablets could slow iPad in Corporate Market

The IDG News Service predicts that Intel's new Oak Trail Tablet dedicated processor could surpass the iPad in the enterprise market. Because they are more closely aligned to security, software and hardware needs that provide a better experience for IT environments that are standardized on Windows.

SKU Information:
The base image on the CL900 includes:
• Windows 7 (Home Premium or Professional) – Home Premium is only available on the entry level $899 SKU and is not suitable for use by businesses with more than 5-10 employees.
• Adobe Reader
• ExoPC: A third party, touch-optimized user interface (UI) that allows users to access applications more easily using touch. The CL900 image is embedded with the ExoPC UI and comes loaded with useful applications such as Intel, Google, YouTube and even a Motion app, which takes the user directly to the Motion web site. ExoPC houses and organizes applications that users can download from the ExoPC app store. The CL900 runs ExoPC over the Windows 7 desktop, and allows the user to easily switch between ExoPC and Windows 7.

• ExTouch. A third party user interface (UI) designed for touch devices and functions as a homepage to store shortcuts to frequently used applications. The user can customize application shortcuts they want to appear in ExTouch, resize active application windows, access the front-and rear facing cameras and adjust screen brightness and speaker volume with the touch of a finger.
