Windows 7 overtakes XP to become the most widely used OS

A news alert today announceed that according to WinRumors.com Windows 7 is now the most widely used OS for desktops. This report cites that Windows 7 now accounts for over 40% of total PC deployment as Windows XP has slid to slightly over 38%. It is estimated that by the end of 2011 635 Million PC's will have shipped with Windows 7 Worldwide.
